COMMUNITY LIVING CAMP
Day 1
Udhbhav
The inaugural function was held on 4th November 2025 at 10:15 a.m.. The programme commenced with a prayer song rendered by Siji and Diliya, setting a serene and devotional tone for the event. Following the prayer, Dr. Smitha Eapen, Staff Advisor, delivered the welcome speech, extending a warm welcome to the dignitaries, faculty, and students
.
The Principal Address was then delivered by Prof. Dr. George Varghese, Principal of MTTC, who highlighted the importance of the event and expressed his gratitude to the organizing team. The lamp lighting ceremony marked the formal inauguration of the function, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the spread of knowledge.
The Inaugural Address was given by the Chief Guest, Dr. M. S. Sunil, Philanthropist and Former Faculty of the Department of Zoology, Catholicate College, and Alumna of MTTC (Batch of 1983). Dr. Sunil inspired the audience with her words on education, compassion, and community service, motivating the students to contribute positively to society. Following the address, Ms. Thushara Radha R, Assistant Professor, offered a felicitation, appreciating the Chief Guest’s remarkable achievements and dedication.
Neha Manoj Varghese, Student Camp Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event. The programme concluded with an interactive session, where students actively engaged with the Chief Guest, making the event both informative and inspiring. Overall, the function was a memorable and enriching experience for everyone present.
Whispers of the Mist
As part of the community living camp, an educational and recreational tour was organized on 5th November, the second day of the camp. The day was filled with enriching experiences, scenic beauty, and moments of togetherness. The journey began as we departed from the college at 5:50am.
After a comfortable drive, we reached our breakfast spot, Kerala Hotel in Mundakayam, at 7:40 am. A refreshing meal energised everyone for the day ahead. By 8:30 am, we were back on the bus, eager to explore the destinations planned. Our first stop was at Valanjamkana waterfall, where we spent some peaceful moments from 9:00am to 9:30 am, enjoying the serenity of nature. En route, we also passed by the picturesque Kuttikanam tea estate, soaking in the lush greenery. At 10:30 am, we reached the much-awaited Pine Forest, a major highlight of the tour. The group spent quality time there, walking through the forest trails and capturing memories. We left the forest by 12:30 pm.
Lunch was served at 1.00 pm, and we resumed our journey by 1:45 pm. Our next stop was the scenic Meadows, where we arrived by 2:00 pm. After enjoying the natural surroundings, we departed at 3:30 pm. By 4:50 pm, we reached Paruthumpara, known for its breathtaking views. The group spent a peaceful evening there and left the place by 6:05 pm. Dinner was arranged again at Kerala Hotel, served at 8:00 pm, followed by our departure at 8:50 pm.
We finally returned to the camp site by 10:15 pm. After a day of adventure and bonding, lights were out by 11:30 pm for some well-deserved rest. The day was not only enjoyable but also helped in strengthening the unity among peers while fostering a deeper appreciation for nature and team spirit.
SRIJAN
On the bright morning of the third day of our Community Living Camp, the participants gathered with enthusiasm and a cheerful spirit. The day began with the morning assembly efficiently hosted by Amjitha Z., creating a warm and disciplined start. The assembly began with a prayer song sung by Ashly M. Manoj and Dhanya, and Holy book reading by Julina Mariam, setting a serene and reflective tone for the day’s activities. The thought for the day was presented by Anakha V., inspiring everyone with her positive message. This was followed by the daily news reading by Dona Mariya and the thoughtful and fun Tabor news segment, delivered by Bency Bright, keeping everyone informed and motivated.
To refresh and energize the participants, Jeeva Mariam led a calm and rejuvenating Pranayama (Anulom Vilom) session, helping everyone begin the day with focus and mindfulness. Following this, Anju Kunjumon and Albin Abraham, conducted a lively warm-up session, filling the camp atmosphere with positive energy and enthusiasm.
The day progressed with an enjoyable game session conducted by Emmanuel D Silva, Albin Abraham, and Amjitha Z., which encouraged teamwork, fun, and active participation. Soon after, the creative phase of the morning unfolded with an art and craft workshop led by Anakha V. and Saleek Rahiman. While Anakha demonstrated making flowers from plastic/polythene bags, Saleek demonstrated making puppets from plastic bottles, which inspired the participants to repurpose waste materials through art and imagination, showcasing creativity and eco-friendliness.
In the afternoon, an insightful and interactive session was led by Mr. Biju Mavelikara, Administrative Deputy Director, Certified Infotainment Master Trainer & People Facilitator, National Institute for Training and Educational Research, Thiruvananthapuram The session titled “Master Yourself” focused on personal growth, positive mindset, and self-awareness. Mr. Biju captivated the audience with his energetic presence, engaging style, and thought-provoking anecdotes. He emphasized the importance of mastering one’s emotions, building confidence, and nurturing a spirit of teamwork and empathy in both personal and professional life. Through interactive activities, humour, and real-life examples, he encouraged participants to look inward and recognize their potential. The session also highlighted how self-discipline, effective communication, and a positive attitude contribute to overall success and well-being. At the end of the session, on behalf of all the participants, Dilsree K., Joise P. and Ashna S. Raichal shared their heartfelt feedback, expressing deep appreciation for the motivational and interactive nature of the session. They highlighted how Mr. Biju’s words inspired them to adopt a more positive approach to life and teaching, and how his session encouraged self-belief and personal growth.
As the evening approached, excitement filled the air with a spirited Treasure Hunt, where participants competed enthusiastically in teams, demonstrating teamwork, problem solving, and enthusiasm. Group 4 emerged as the winners, receiving loud applause and cheers from everyone. The day reached its grand finale with a joyful campfire named ‘Fireside Tales’, where participants sang songs, danced, and shared laughter around the glowing flames, strengthening the bonds of friendship and unity.
Thus, the third day of the Community Living Camp was a beautiful blend of creativity, learning, reflection, and togetherness, leaving every participant with cherished memories and renewed enthusiasm for the days ahead.
SAMVARDHAN
The fourth day of the residential camp, titled “Samvardhan – Growth in Togetherness,” was a radiant celebration of unity, harmony, and collective joy. The programme was organized under the broader theme of Ekatva 2025, emphasizing harmony with nature and unity in living. The day’s focus was to nurture the spirit of togetherness among students through shared experiences of learning, laughter, and rejuvenation.
The event was held at the scenic Christian Education Centre, Charalkunnu, surrounded by nature’s calm and serenity, an ideal setting for reflection, bonding, and growth. The day began early with a series of energizing and inspiring activities designed to strengthen both the body and mind, aligning perfectly with the subtheme “Growth in Togetherness.”
Main Session: Rhythm of Resilience
The highlight of the day was the thematic session titled “Rhythm of Resilience: Focusing on Rejuvenation and Refreshment,” which began at 10 a.m. This session served as the intellectual and emotional centerpiece of the day, aiming to inspire participants to face life’s challenges with resilience, positivity, and inner strength.
The session was graced by distinguished personalities. Dr. Biju G. Pillai, renowned motivational speaker and memory trainer, led the session with an engaging and interactive talk. He emphasized the importance of mental well-being, emotional balance, and adaptability in a rapidly changing world. His activities made us realise that we always limit our calibre according to the situations around us, which should be altered for the overall development of our personality. His magic skills also made the session more entertaining as well. His words deeply resonated with the audience, inspiring them to cultivate strength from within and to approach life’s difficulties with optimism.
Adding to the atmosphere of rejuvenation were captivating performances by talented artists. Alan K. Joy enriched the session with his melodious vocal performance, while Jijo Xavier on the keyboard and Vishnu on the flute brought soothing music that complemented the day’s theme of inner peace and harmony. The blend of motivational dialogue and soulful music created a holistic experience that refreshed both the heart and mind of every participant.
Coordination and Organization
The smooth and vibrant execution of the day’s events was a result of meticulous planning and teamwork. The General Convener, Dr. George Varghese, Principal of Mount Tabor Training College, provided visionary guidance and encouragement for the successful conduct of the camp. The Camp Coordinators, Ms..Sherly Philip, Mr Jijan E.K and Ms.Asha K Thomas, Ms..Ceena.C.Chacko ensured that every activity was meaningful, well-structured, and engaging.
Group Leaders, Amina Yasmin F. and M. Thomas Yakoob, further contributed by managing team activities and promoting group spirit throughout the programme. Their collaborative efforts embodied the very essence of “Samvardhan”—the growth that emerges through togetherness.
After a refreshing lunch break at 1:00 p.m., participants reflected on the morning’s learnings. Informal sharing sessions allowed students to express how the activities and discussions had influenced their perspectives on unity, teamwork, and personal resilience. The participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to connect more deeply with one another and to experience learning beyond the classroom walls. After the lunch break we left the place by 2.30 pm, marking the end of the residential camp
The atmosphere was filled with laughter, warmth, and a renewed sense of belonging. “Samvardhan” truly succeeded in creating a platform for the growth in togetherness, where individuals found strength through collective experiences, empathy, and shared purpose.
Valedictory Function
The Valedictory Function of the Community Living Camp Ekatva, held on November 8, marked a memorable conclusion to an inspiring and enriching journey. The camp, which focused on unity, cooperation, and shared learning, provided every participant with unforgettable experiences that strengthened bonds of friendship, understanding, and togetherness.
The event began with a warm felicitation by Mr. Jijan E.K., whose motivating words highlighted the value of teamwork and collective growth that Ekatva stood for. The presence of our esteemed Principal, Prof. Dr.George Varghese, added great significance to the occasion. His guidance and blessings have been a constant source of encouragement throughout the camp.
Special notes of gratitude were extended to the
camp coordinators Ms Smitha Eapen, Ms.Asha K Thomas, Ms.Sherly Philip, Ms. Sooryachandramohan, Mr Jijan E.K whose
presence led the camp to its true spirit. Special
gratitude to the student coordinators Ms. Neha and Mr. Saleek, whose dedication, planning, and tireless efforts ensured
the smooth conduct of every activity. Their leadership inspired all group
coordinators, whose immense support played a crucial role in making the camp a true success.
The Gratitude Speech by Ms. Richu Reji and Ms. Sayana Sam beautifully expressed the collective appreciation of all
participants. They conveyed heartfelt thanks to the faculty, coordinators, and
fellow campers for their cooperation and enthusiasm that made Ekatva a joyful and transformative
experience.
The Ekatva
camp successfully fulfilled its purpose of fostering unity (ekatva), self-reliance, and community
spirit. It taught participants the value of living and learning together,
sharing responsibilities, and growing through mutual understanding. As the
curtains fell on this memorable event, every participant carried home cherished
memories, valuable lessons, and a renewed sense of togetherness. The Ekatva community living camp truly stood
as a celebration of unity in diversity and the power of collective experience.
